Welwyn Garden City given ‘wonderful’ new branding
The Welwyn Garden City BID has launched a new brand identity for the town.
The new branding was launched on Friday afternoon in the Howard Centre.
It came about after a survey of businesses, in which 81 per cent of respondents felt that developing the town’s identity to attract visitors should be the BID’s priority.
Local businesses and stakeholders were also consulted in workshops that led to the conclusion that a town brand was needed.
The vision the new branding hopes to communicate is: “To create a town centre which is innovative and modern, which builds on the unique Garden City principles and characteristics to make it a great place to visit, work and live.”
The BID commissioned Hatfield marketing company AL Marketing to get this across with a logo and other branding materials including the tagline “Wonderful Welwyn Garden City”.
The ‘W’ logo is inspired by a local landmark, say the BID. “The graphic suggests celebration, exuberance and more obviously, our Coronation Fountain on Parkway,” said a spokesperson.
Welwyn Garden City Business Improvement District (BID) was set up in 2017 by town centre businesses to work together in shaping the future of Welwyn Garden City.
